United Steel began in 1974 as East Hartford Welding, founded by Kenneth F. Corneau with a commitment to quality fabrication and reliable service. Five decades later, we’re New England’s largest structural steel fabricator and erector—still family-owned, still operating from East Hartford, and still guided by the same values that built the company.
From a regional fabrication shop to a full-service structural steel contractor with 200+ employees and a 200,000-square-foot facility, our growth has been built one successful project at a time.
